The American Red Cross will hold the following blood drives for the month of September  (and to make an appointment or for more information call 1-800-REDCROSS or visit www.redcrossblood.org):  Oct. 17 at St. Anne's Hospital in Fall River fr4om 12-5; Oct. 17 at Mayflower Masonic Lodge in Middleboro from 1-6; Oct. 18 at Mansfield Congregational Church from 2-7; Oct. 18 at UMass Dartmouth (Woodland Commons) in N. Dartmouth from 1-6; Oct. 18 at Hotel 1620 in Plymouth from 1-6; Oct. 18 at Social Harmony Lodge A.F. & A.M. in Wareham from 1-6.

The Green Briar Nature Center of East Sandwich will present the fascinating story of "The Glass Flowers of Harvard", presented by Henry T. Callan on Oct. 18.  These beautiful flowers created in glass by German crafters were used to teach botany at Harvard.  Program begins at 2 p.m.

Lombardo's in Randolph is holding a Collaborative Career Fair Oct. 19 from 1-4 (6 Billings Street).  Dress for success and bring plenty of copies of your resume!  Some participating exhibitors include CVS Health, MA State Police, SYSCO Boston, W.B. Mason, Wegman's Markets, and many more.

Alden Kindred of America, Inc. is hosting "Something Magic is Brewing"...at their House Historic Site on Alden Street in Duxbury, Oct. 21 from 4-8 p.m.  There will be a Haunted House, monster mash disco, face painting, kids games and activities and haunted trail walk.  781-932-9092.

The Brain Injury Association of Massachusetts is having their "Rise and Adapt 5K" Oct. 21 at Silver Lake Regional HIgh School in Kingston.  On site registration and bib pickup available on race day beginning at 8 a.m. in front of the school.  Walk/run will start promptly at 9. 

Plymouth Lodge A.F. & A.M. is having an Open House Oct. 21 from 9-3 at 116 South Meadow Road for the public to learn more about Freemasonry, which provides fellowship, charity, education and leadership opportunities while creating friendship and understanding between men.

South Meadow Village of Carver is having their annual Holly Fair Oct. 21 from 9-2.    This year's tables will showcase gift baskets, homemade baked goods, preserves, jewelry, knitting, pet gifts, books, and much more.  There will also be raffles, food and white elephant sale.

Swift Memorial United Methodist Church in Sagamore Beach is having an open house Oct. 22.  Start off with worship service at 10 a.m. and stay for a light lunch.  Find out about the history of Swift Memorial, take a tour of the beautiful stone church and learn about programs and events.  

Cape Cod Community College is holding an Overdose Education and Narcan Training Oct. 23 at 2 p.m. in Lecture Hall B at the college.  Free to the public in partnership with the AIDS Support Group of Cape Cod.  For more info call Campus Police at 508-362-2131 X 3333.

Horizons for Homeless Children needs volunteers in Southeastern Mass to play with homeless children at a Horizons for Homeless Children Playspace.  Commitment of 2 hrs/week for 6 months and training are required..  They are holding a training session Oct. 26 in Bourne from 6-9 p.m.  508-510-3250.

School on Wheels Massachusetts is in need of volunteer tutors to help change the lives of children impacted by homelessness.  Their upcoming training session is Oct. 30 at School on Wheels in East Bridgewater from 6-8:30 p.m.  Call 508-587-9091 to register or for more information
